THE WEEKLY WRAP

Market sentiment is sitting neutral this week at 51, a further drop from last week's 56.

Germany’s largest bank, Deutsche Bank, is preparing to launch digital asset custody services, with an initial rollout to support both Bitcoin and Ethereum. The banking giant won't stop there, with sights also set on Asian markets for 2027, as well as tokenised deposits and digital bonds. With a bank this large setting its sights on digital asset growth, it’s clear digital assets are making their mark in traditional finance.
Australians are anxiously awaiting to see what the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) will do next following last month's rate increase, with borrowers feeling pressure already. All eyes are on the next inflation report, which is due October 28th, just shy of a week prior to the RBA’s next interest rate decision on November 3rd.

BITCOIN:
Bitcoin ETFs saw their second consecutive week of outflows; US spot funds recorded approximately US$229 million in net outflows between October 12th-16th, significantly lower than last week’s US$681 million. However, they’re still holding onto their yearly gains, with approximately US$259 million in net inflows so far in 2026.
Another week, another Strategy Bitcoin purchase. With a purchase of 267 BTC for approximately US$22.1 million, Strategy brings its total holdings to 848,517 BTC, representing around 4% of Bitcoin's maximum supply.

An interesting comparison of Google searches for Bitcoin vs. Bitcoin’s price was made by an X user this week. The chart tracks worldwide Google search interest for “Bitcoin” and “BTCUSD” alongside Bitcoin's price since 2012, displaying how public interest has flowed over time. While searches for Bitcoin peaked dramatically during the 2017 bull run, interest hasn't returned to those same levels.

ETHEREUM:
Banking giants are making moves this week, with US bank JPMorgan launching its stablecoin, JPM Coin (JPMD), on the Ethereum network on Monday, October 19th. The coin represents US dollar deposits held at the bank, allowing approved institutional clients to transfer their funds in seconds. The launch follows the bank’s previous launch on Base network and comes as its blockchain division, Kinexys, reports processing more than US$4 trillion in transactions, averaging approximately US$7 billion daily.
Following Bitcoin’s lead, Ethereum ETF’s are also seeing further withdrawals, with US spot funds recording approximately US$190 million in outflows on October 14th & 15th; this came after a short-lived return in inflows on October 13th.

ALTCOINS:
With a 200% rise over the last month, Quant (QNT) has gained a lot of attention. Following news of The Clearing House choosing Quant's technology to support tokenised bank deposits. This hasn’t been without volatility, falling approximately 21% from its recent high of AUD$405.

Osmosis (OSMO) saw another 24-hour jump this week, with a 20.01% increase from midday October 19th-20th before dropping 7.76% overnight, not quite matching the 42% jump it saw last week. This is particularly interesting as last week a proposal was posted to OSMO’s forum that suggested ending new OSMO issuance entirely. Approximately 121,766 new OSMO tokens are issued daily, the proposal explores reducing the need to create additional tokens by staking rewards instead being funded through revenue generated by the network. Alongside the network’s existing process of burning tokens, if implemented, the proposed plan would gradually reduce OSMO’s circulating supply.

Overnight, IOSToken (IOST) saw a 43.53% increase, followed by Compound (COMP) with a 20.32% increase. Whilst not reflected too strongly in the altcoin season index, it would appear this week was dominated by 24-hour moves from altcoins.
