🪙 Crypto Markets Recover After AU$29B Liquidation Event
The weekend saw one of crypto’s wildest swings in years. A surprise 100% U.S. tariff announcement on Chinese imports wiped AU$29 billion (USD$19 billion) from crypto markets, triggering over 6,300 wallet liquidations. But within 48 hours, Bitcoin rebounded 2.7% to AU$176,400 (USD$114,665), while Ether climbed 8.3% to AU$6,360 (USD$4,135). “What we just saw was a massive emotional reset,” said Arctic Digital’s Justin d’Anethan. “The longer-term structure is intact.” With trade tensions easing and ETF inflows holding strong, some analysts believe confidence appears to be back on track as ADA and DOGE lead the recovery with nearly 10% daily gains.
🏔️ Bhutan Migrates National ID System to Ethereum
The Kingdom of Bhutan is migrating its National Digital Identity system from Polygon to Ethereum, enabling nearly 800,000 residents to verify their identities and access government services on the blockchain. The Ethereum integration is complete, with full migration expected by the first quarter of 2026, according to Ethereum Foundation President Aya Miyaguchi, who attended the launch alongside Vitalik Buterin, Bhutan’s prime minister Tshering Tobgay, and crown prince Jigme Namgyel Wangchuk. Bhutan holds 11,286 Bitcoin worth USD$1.31 billion (AU$2.02 billion), making it the fifth-largest Bitcoin-holding nation-state globally.

Venezuelan opposition leader and human rights activist María Corina Machado has received the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts to promote democracy and freedom in Venezuela. Machado has also been a vocal advocate for Bitcoin, describing it as a “lifeline” for citizens protecting their wealth amid hyperinflation and strict currency controls. In a 2024 interview, she said Bitcoin “bypasses government-imposed exchange rates” and helps many Venezuelans preserve their financial independence.
