Cartesi is a layer-2 infrastructure blockchain that lets developers run highly scalable smart contracts with mainstream software stacks. This is done through a combination of side-chains and optimistic rollups, which take part of the processing work off the main chain, making transactions faster and more affordable. Notably, this lets dApps be built with mainstream programming languages.
CTSI is the network’s utility token, which is used for both staking and as payment for processing data on the network. Cartesi was founded in 2018 by Erick de Moura, Augusto Teixeira, Diego Nehab and Colin Steil, with investment from the founder of IOTA, Serguei Popov.
