Aragon, is an open-source platform on the Ethereum Network that anyone can use to create and maintain decentralized autonomous organizations (DAO) on the Ethereum blockchain.

If you're unfamiliar, a DAO is a software running on a blockchain that offers users a built-in model for the collective management of its technology. Users who hold ANT tokens help govern the protocol, voting on proposals to determine changes in the network that other digital currencies don't provide.

The Aragon foundation provides tools for critical business functions, such as accounting, governance, identity, and payroll, to operate with support from the Aragon network without centralised control.

Within an autonomous community, users can create their own decentralized autonomous organizations from templates based on an existing collection of apps. The network's native ANT token allows holders to participate in governance and operate without centralised control.

The Aragon project was created in modern Spain in 2016 by internet entrepreneurs Luis Iván Cuende and Jorge Izquierdo. Having created the ANT coin, the founders of the Aragon community aim to empower freedom and education by creating liberating tools that leverage decentralised technologies across the world. To date, over 1350 organisations have been built on Aragon.
