THE WEEKLY WRAP
A whirlwind week for crypto markets last week, and we’re now seeing the market hold onto gains and even out, with little movement.

Sentiment eased slightly, but remains strongly in Greed, with the Fear and Greed Index moving from 79 to 74 this week.

So what follows a massive week like that? Big behind-the-scenes moves. Strategy purchased more Bitcoin this week, approximately US$142.7 million, bringing their total holdings to 847,666 BTC, approximately US$70.8 billion. Beyond increasing his Bitcoin assets, co-founder of Strategy, Michael Saylor, continued to make moves. Taking to X to call for a “Bill of Digital Rights” to protect crypto freedoms. Saylor also posted an article titled “Prescriptions for Prosperity in the Digital Economy”, in which he argued that “The industry should build excellent products, bring them to market, and earn that support. Policymakers should give it room to do so.“

Yesterday the RBA (The Reserve Bank of Australia) increased the cash rate from 4.35% to 4.60%, its fourth increase of the year, bringing it to its highest level in 15 years. The decision was unanimous, with reasoning focusing mainly on inflation.

BTC:
Bitcoin experienced momentum early in the week before retracing slightly, briefly breaking above US$87,000 before pulling back around US$84,000.

In addition to Strategy’s large BTC purchase in the last week, Strive acquired 1,107 Bitcoin for approximately US$94.5 million between September 21 and 25, lifting its total holdings to 27,462 BTC valued at about US$2.3 billion.
The US Bitcoin ETFs now hold 1.28 million BTC, or 6.11% of the total supply, valued at US$108 billion (AU$153 billion). In the last 3 months, Bitcoin has gained over 40%. Spot Bitcoin funds saw $2.4 billion in net inflows last week, pushing year-to-date ETF flows back into positive territory for the first time since October 2025.

In an article titled “The cryptographic world computer” posted on September 27th, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin posted to his website, outlining the network he envisions for 2030, which would work very differently from today’s version of a blockchain. “Ethereum of tomorrow will have computation with a tunable dial between extreme scale and full generality, multiple forms of multi-participant block construction, a highly optimized form of proof of stake, and zero-knowledge proofs baked in playing key roles at the base layer.”
His proposed direction brings cryptographic proofs into a much bigger role, alongside more efficient proof of stake and ways for multiple participants to help construct blocks. Essentially, the goal is to support more computation and privacy while keeping the network verifiable. A long-term vision he continues to problem-solve.
ALTCOINS:
Altcoin deposit volumes hit a new high since the October 2025 peak, with 87% of altcoins breaking above their 200-day moving averages.
Whilst it’s not quite the jumps we saw last week, altcoins have continued to see some massive 24-hour gains. Quant (QNT) was one of the biggest movers of the week, surging roughly 240% over seven days. As of 27 September, Solana (SOL) was up 9.83% over seven days, while Chainlink (LINK) gained 12.19%, Cardano (ADA) 12.08% and Dogecoin (DOGE) 11.17%. Bitcoin Cash (BCH) rose 31.71%, and NEAR Protocol (NEAR) rose 29.08%
Solana ETFs hit a record week with US$188 million. Friday alone was responsible for nearly half the weekly total, adding US$87 million, its largest day since going live. The flows come as Solana developers continue to test Alpenglow, an upgrade that aims to shorten the timing of payments from approximately 12.8 seconds to roughly 150 milliseconds.
